For Coachella 2014 RabCub designed an interactive 3D projection mapping system for the roving art installation, Escape Velocity (better known as #CoachellaAstronaut). Working closely with the artists at Poetic Kinetics, they developed a mobile video capture system that recorded attendees and musician’s faces and names to be rear-projected into the helmet visor with a five-minute delay allowing the wannabe astronauts to set up the perfect selfie with themselves towering above the crowd. The results were stunning and blasted the festival into orbit.
